Fund Overview

            The Trustees established the Cat MacRae Fund shortly after Catherine (“Cat”) Fairfax MacRae was tragically murdered by Muslim terrorists in the attacks of September 11, 2001 on the World Trade Center.   The Trustees had three primary goals in creating the Cat MacRae Fund:

  1. To allow family and friends to meaningfully express their love for Cat through charitable gifts;

  2. To keep Cat’s memory and legacy alive; and

  3. To support the type of charitable causes that Cat would have supported had her not life been so abruptly cut short.  In other words, the Fund strives to continue Cat’s unfinished work.

            More specifically, the Fund plans to invest in children who otherwise would not be given the opportunity to succeed.  Cat loved children but never had the opportunity to have her own.  The Trustees hope that the Fund will make a significant positive difference in the lives of children, especially those affected by acts of violence and terror.  The Fund plans to accomplish this by making grants to certain public charities whose mission is to support, educate, and incentivize such children.  The Fund will actively monitor its gifts and keep close contact with its beneficiaries to ensure that they derive the maximum benefit out of each dollar given.
