Although the Cat MacRae
Fund is the primary entity created to honor Cat's life, her family and friends
have established numerous other memorials. Some of the more prominent ones
are as follows:
-
A portrait at the Ivy
Club, where Cat shared countless fond memories with fellow Princetonians.
Hers is the first and only female portrait hanging in the Great Hall of Ivy. Over 100
people gathered at Ivy to honor Cat and the installation of her portrait on
February 1, 2003.

-
A lovely bronzed fawn
sculpture in a nature preserve in Hobe Sound, Cat's favorite vacation
destination. The fawn's body faces the rising sun in the East, while its
eyes remain focused on the setting sun in the West. Such a posture is
symbolic of Cat, who constantly looked ahead to the future, while always
maintaining an appreciation of the past.
-
The Catherine Fairfax
MacRae Memorial Award for that graduating student of the Brearley School who
excels in both mathematics and English. Although the prize was first
awarded in June 2002, it will only be awarded in years when there is a
graduating student who truly excels in both fields.
-
The Cat MacRae tennis
award at the Meadow Club in Southampton, New York.
-
A bench in Central Park,
New York City.
-
"The Sunday after
Tuesday," a collection of sermons given at college and university chapels after
September 11. Dean William H. Willimon of Duke University published the
volume and dedicated it to Cat's memory.
-
A beautiful memorial
garden near Nassau Hall at Princeton University, where Cat and the 12 other
Princetonians lost on September 11 are honored. To view the remarks given
by President Shirley Tilghman at its dedication,
